File format for persons and users

Files for persons and users must be in comma separated format (csv). The columns supported in the file are listed in the table below. Header are not case sensitive. Spaces and other white space character in headers are ignored. Headers can appear in any order in the file. Some file headers support synonyms (i.e., equivalent headers) for compatibility with Microsoft Outlook.


File for persons are used to create list of users (see Person list - Persons). Files for users are used to create Novi Survey users (see also Adding or setting up an organization)


Note that contacts exported from Microsoft Outlook as a csv file can be imported in Novi Survey as persons. Importing contact from Outlook as users requires adding the column for the user name in the file.


The column for the state is handled in a special manner. If the value for the state is the name or abbreviation for a state in the United States or in Canada, the value for the country field (Business Country/Region) is set automatically to the United states or Canada, irrespective of the value in the file for the country.
