Templates define the visual appearance of surveys to respondents. Templates include a great variety of settings that control the size, layout, fonts, colors, progress indicators, question markers, navigation buttons, check boxes and radio buttons for surveys. Templates can also include a logo to be included in the header of surveys. Templates are assigned to surveys in the survey setup screen.

• Template name: The name for the template. The name must be unique (i.e., there cannot be another template with the same name).

• Active: Controls if the template is active or inactive. Inactive template cannot be selected for new surveys. They remain available for surveys that used them before they were made inactive.

• Global: Controls if the template is global. Global templates are available to surveys across all organizations represented in Novi Survey. Only system administrator can modify this field.

• Default (desktop): Specifies if the template is set as the desktop template by default for new surveys. The option can be set if the the template is global (see above) and the user is a system administrator. Additionally, if the option is set for a template and saved, the option cannot be unset directly. Rather, the option must be set for a different template which has the side effect or clearing the option for the template that was previously set as the default.

• Default (mobile): Specifies if the template is set as the mobile template by default for new surveys. The default (mobile) option is subject to the same constraints as the default (desktop) option described above.

• Public: Controls if the template if public. Public templates can be edited by any user who has Survey creation privileges. Non-public templates can be edited by template owners only.

• Owners: Users who own the template. Owners can modify the template, activate or inactivate the template, or delete the template. Use the tool in the header of the table to add or remove owners.
