Questions can be configured to allow an answer of 'Not applicable'. When a question is answered as 'Not applicable', none of the options defined for the question apply. The only data captured for the question is its being answered as not applicable and optionally a textual reason.

To change the label for the 'Not Applicable' check box shown for this option, see the messages screen for the survey.

• Allow not applicable answer: Defines if participants can answer the question as 'Not applicable'. The option for answering a question as not applicable are found below the 'Comment' field in the question definition page.

• Label for not applicable option: Specifies the label shown to participants for the not applicable check box.

• Allow to enter a textual reason why the question is not applicable: Specifies if participant can enter a textual reason explaining why they answered the question as 'Not applicable'.

• Require reason: Controls if input in the 'reason not applicable' text box is required or optional.

• Reason text widget: The reason can be entered through either a single line or a multi-line text field.

• Label for reason: Specifies the label shown to participants for the reason text box.
